No free letters. In Standard, the anchor word's letters start filled in. In Hard, every square starts blank.
Less common words. The synonyms are rarer words.
Less common letters. The boards lean on letters you're less likely to guess first, so your usual openers won't land as often.
Everything else is the same — solve every synonym before 3 mistakes.
Thank you again to everyone who has played Crossonym and given me feedback. After listening to that feedback and analyzing over 27,000 completed puzzles (!!!), I believe I have a better understanding of what makes one puzzle harder than another.
